I just jumped into taking this online course on climate change (https://www.coursera.org/course/climateliteracy).
So far after the first week, here’s what you need to know:
1) It’s a very complex issue.
2) People don’t want to sacrifice, so trying to get people to cut back in order to reduce carbon emission just ain’t gonna happen.
3) Everyone has a different perspective and there’s a lot of finger pointing.
4) I got a ‘B’ on the quiz.
Since I started a week late I need to watch the next section tomorrow to get caught up. I’ll let you know what I find out.
And by the way, 97% of environmental scientists are certain human behavior is causing our climate change. So you can stick your head in the warming sands and pretend we’re not doing it and this week’s tornadoes are a natural cycle of our environment, but that won’t make things better for anyone in the future.
When I was a kid there was a trend to build bomb shelter housing. Maybe we should consider building below ground, fire-, flood- and wind-proof housing. Your thoughts?
